forensic psychology

The purpose of this course is to introduce students to the field of forensic psychology. Specifically, this course will focus on the application of psychological research, theory, and practice to answer legal questions. The course is intended both for Psychology majors and for interested students from related disciplines. Students will investigate the multiple aspects of the field including prominent cases involving such topics as the insanity defense, the use of jury consultants with psychological training, the use of psychology in the profiling of cases, eyewitness testimony, interrogations and confessions, child custody, and child sexual abuse among others.
