General Learning Objectives

1. discuss the ethical responsibilities an employee has toward her/his organization and to society as well as the responsibilities the organization has toward the employee.

2. critically reflect upon and analyze philosophical material and then to synthesize that material into clear and understandable essays.

3. begin to understand the nature of moral reasoning and how to apply it to specific moral dilemmas.

4. through the use of case studies demonstrate an understanding of ethics and how it is relevant to a business or organizational enterprise.

5. demonstrate an ability to effectively use computers in their educational endeavors by doing online research on a topic in business ethics.

6. apply ethical theories, especially the utilitarian and deontological perspectives, to specific cases in business ethics with the goal of arriving at a moral judgment.

7. discuss ethical values as they relate to capitalism by listing and discussing online the values inherent in capitalism and those that are not inherent in capitalism.
